Our December feature is a 2014 movie by Łukasz Palkowski entitled „Gods”, the first film in our series that is based on a real-life event. Taking place in mid 80’s Poland, during the final years of the communist regime, it’s a portrati of Zbigniew Religa, a respected heart-surgeon then, soon to become a major political figure. The movie illustrates the struggles surrounding the first succesful heart transplant done on the country’s soil. While the title performed quite triumphantly in Poland (gathering over two million viewers and numerous festival awards and nominations), it went under the radar internationally-wise. Our screeining will be a rare chance to experience this piece with English subtitles!
